Isocyanate air monitoring
Collision and auto body paint booths, auto-sector paint lines, spray foam installers and polyurethane manufacturers work with isocyanates, one of Ontario's designated substances. We assess the exposure and monitor the air.
What the regulation asks
- A written exposure assessment made with your JHSC, redone after any change that could significantly affect exposure
- A control program where health may be affected
- Air monitoring by or under a qualified hygienist, results posted for 14 days, copied to the JHSC and kept 5 years
- Medical surveillance, which applies to isocyanates
What a monitoring day includes
A full day of personal and area air monitoring during normal spraying, a results report, a posting notice and a copy for your JHSC. $1,400 a day, lab analysis included.
For a one-booth shop
The Workplace Exposure Program Shop tier covers the annual assessment review, one monitoring day, a training session and your records for $299 a month, about what the same year costs bought one service at a time.
Respirators
Respiratory protection programs were the most common gap in the Ministry's 2024–25 chemical exposure campaign. We write the program, selection guidance and training records for $1,200 to $2,500.
